What’s included in the thyroid panel and when should you get tested?

A basic thyroid panel is a vital laboratory test that helps assess the performance of your thyroid gland. By measuring levels of TSH, Free T3, and Free T4 in the blood, this test can identify early signs of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, even before symptoms appear. It’s a quick and reliable way to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

To assess the functioning of the thyroid, it is essential to carry out a blood test that determines the levels of thyroid hormones, being the basis for diagnosing an alteration of said gland.

In those cases in which thyroid dysfunction is diagnosed (hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism), close monitoring of TSH, T3 and T4 levels is required in order to control that medication doses are within therapeutic values.
